Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an important component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) whereby thin needles are inserted in specific ways into “acupuncture points” which exist mostly near the surface of the skin. These acupuncture points are an accumulation of “Qi” (Pronounced Chee) or energy/life-force that when obstructed or imbalanced may cause any number of symptoms such as acute pain. These acupuncture points are located on a network of channels or meridians which traverse the entire body and are also connected with our internal organs. Health is achieved when Qi can flow freely throughout the body and the Yin/Yang energies are in relative balance. It is only when there is an imbalance of Yin and Yang, Qi obstruction, or an introduction of an exogenous pathogenic factor that acupuncture needles are used to manipulate the Qi in these points in precise ways to regain harmony and restore health.
Electro-Acupuncture is the application of alternating micro-current or milli-current to acupuncture needles as a way of stimulating the acupoints. It is frequently used for acute pain, neurological diseases, including chronic pain, spasms, and paralysis. Developed by the Chinese in 1934, the benefits of using electrical stimulation are that it substitutes for prolonged hand maneuvering. This helps assure that the patient gets the amount of stimulation needed. Electro-acupuncture may also help reduce total treatment time by providing the continued stimulus and it can produce a stronger stimulation, if desired, without causing tissue damage associated with twirling and lifting and thrusting the needle. Strong stimulation may be needed for difficult cases of neuralgia or paralysis.
Esoteric Acupuncture is a system of acupuncture that was formulated by Mikio Sankey Ph.D., LAc. which is the utilization of traditional Chinese acupuncture theory, along with the Hindu Chakra system, Sacred Geometry and the Qabbalistic tree of life. The focus of esoteric acupuncture is the balancing of Qi and the Chakras and to establish a strong and harmonious connection with the higher spiritual realms. (This system of acupuncture will be offered soon)
Cosmetic Acupuncture is a whole body constitutional treatment in which the face is the focus. In the Traditional Chinese Medicine view, a person’s face is affected selectively by his or her internal organs. Facial features reflect organic strengths, and as internal organs are fortified, one’s face reflects the improvement. Besides addressing a patient’s condition holistically, local facial work is performed by inserting painless, ultra-fine needles into (and around) specific wrinkles, acu-points or muscle points to increase circulation and energy to the facial tissue resulting in a more glowing, vital looking face where wrinkles are less visible.
